1884年2月，中法战争爆发，淮军大将刘铭传被急招回京，临危受命，以巡抚衔督办台湾军务，欲求粉碎法军强占台湾、要挟清政府的企图。刘铭传历经层层险阻，辗转赴台。他凭着非凡的智慧及魄力积极备战，励精图治，大大提高了军队素质及国防能力。 数月后，台湾保卫战拉开序幕，法军统帅孤拔在“劝降无效”之后，毅然凭借般坚炮利的优势对台岛发动猛攻，并集中轰炸了基隆炮台。刘铭传顶住层层压力，甘冒“失土者斩”的大清铁律，把主力军队从基隆战略撤退至沪尾，以求诱敌深入。法军不识真相，在登陆成功后直逼沪尾，沿路遭到伏击，大败而回。这便是中国战争史上有名的“沪尾大捷”。通过中法战争，刘铭传意识到台湾在中国战略位置的重要性，上奏朝廷建台湾省，“甘愿老死台湾”。为此他大胆实行改革，并变卖全部家产充当国库饷银，其鞠躬尽瘁、忠心报国的气概终于促成了台湾省的设立，并成为宝岛首任巡抚。 然而，由于清廷腐败及国家贫弱，以及政敌的恶毒攻击，日本势力从中作梗，一代功臣刘铭传在整治台湾、政绩卓越的七年后，被强令撤回大陆，未能完成“将台湾建成军务强省”的宏愿。一纸马关条约，将刘铭传苦心经营的宝岛台湾拱手割让给日本，消息传到刘宅，年迈的刘铭传口吐鲜血，轰然倒下。。本片為張徹導演，並與倪匡聯合編劇，演員除羅莽、江生、郭追、孫建、鹿峰一眾《五毒》演員之外，尚有曹達華客串。故事描述土匪出身的軍人韓佩昌(王力飾)發動叛變，殺死師長楊宗，竊居其位，楊家只得長子大英一人(羅莽飾)逃出生天。大英志切報仇，結果未得手已告命喪；其好友陳風(江生飾)、梁國仁(郭追飾)、傅全義(鹿峰飾)、辛成(孫建飾)決替其復仇……。Katherine of Alexandria, brought up as a nomad and living in the desert, was aged just 11 when Emperor Maxentius saw her whilst out on patrol. When Constantine learned of Katherine's whereabouts and imprisonment at the hands of Maxentius, he led his army from York in a desperate bid to save her.。
